Power

Hi, my name is Karina Melvin, and this is my summarized testimony behind the dream of DUG'UP Girls' Group/Camp:
I will never forget the year my world began to fall apart. How could a life that seemed so perfect get turned upside down so unexpectedly? In the year 2012, the balance of everything I knew was threatened in many shapes and forms; it seemed as if everything was falling apart at the seams, and I was powerless against it.
With nerves, devestation, and pain working together to create a living nightmare, life became a daily battle. Through it all, I grabbed ahold of God harder than ever before and clung to Him with a bleeding heart. I was then able to be a first hand witness to Scripture and the promises God has for each one of us; He came through for me in ways I never ever could have dreamed of.
Here's where the girls' group/camp vision comes in. Life is so imperfect, scary, stressful, painful, yet so full of... LIFE, happiness, joy, and love. When I was falling into God's arms during those life shattering moments, I also would have given anything to be around girls going through similar things. I just needed to get away from home, find out who I was IN Christ, and simply have some stress-free fun and God time.
By starting this group/camp, I hope to give girls a chance to experience what I could not. When the roller coasters of life are too much, sometimes we need to take a step back, not run away (I tried that), but get away to pray, play, and study.
It doesn't matter what the struggle is, there doesn't even need to be a struggle to join the group or attend camp, all I ask is that girls come to DUG'UP with hearts ready to drop all the pain, insecurity, loneliness, and distractions of home to open their hearts fully to God so they can see how He will "set them free from their living graves" just as He has me.
